Safety Instructors who are enthusiastic about safety and
education.
Position Overview:
As a
Safety Instructor, you will deliver interactive, industry-compliant safety training
courses to individuals and company groups. You will play a crucial role in equipping participants with the
skills and knowledge needed to work safely in a variety of environments, including construction sites,
industrial facilities, and public spaces.
Work Schedule:
- Weekdays: Monday to Friday, between 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM (flexible shifts)
- Weekends: Optional Saturday and Sunday sessions (higher rate available)
- Part-Time or Full-Time: Minimum 16 hours/week, up to 40 hours/week
- Flexible Scheduling: We work with your availability for course bookings
Compensation:
- Hourly Wage: $28.00 to $36.00 CAD per hour (based on experience, course type, and
certifications)
- Weekend Premium: +$3/hour additional for weekend sessions
- Mileage Reimbursement: Available for off-site sessions
- Professional Development: Company-sponsored certifications and refresher courses
- Performance Bonuses: Eligibility for quarterly instructor bonuses
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct onsite and classroom-based safety training sessions across Vancouver
- Deliver courses such as WHMIS, Fall Protection, Forklift, Confined Spaces, Respirator Fit Testing,
Aerial Lift, and more
- Engage participants through interactive teaching methods, practical demonstrations, and real-world
examples
- Evaluate trainee performance through written tests, practical evaluations, and feedback
- Maintain accurate attendance records, evaluation forms, and certification documentation
- Update course materials in collaboration with the training development team
- Ensure compliance with provincial (WorkSafeBC) and federal (Canadian Labour Code) safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with clients, participants, and the Gama Safety management team
- Represent Gama Safety’s values of professionalism, safety-first mindset, and continuous improvement
Requirements:
- Proven experience in construction safety, occupational health, or a related field (minimum 2 years
preferred)
- Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC standards and OH&S regulations
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
- Valid certifications in one or more areas (e.g., Fall Protection Instructor, Forklift Trainer, WHMIS
Instructor) – or willingness to obtain them through our sponsorship
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (required if delivering off-site courses)
- First Aid certification is an asset (Occupational First Aid Level 1, 2, or 3)
- Bilingual (English + Spanish, Punjabi, or French) is an asset but not required
- Ability to travel within Metro Vancouver and surrounding areas when needed
