Under BC OHS Regulation Part 16 and CSA Standard B335, workers must complete documented training before operating any powered pallet truck.

What Is a Power Walkie?
A power walkie is a battery-powered pallet truck that moves palletized loads horizontally at ground level. The operator controls the machine using a tiller handle at one end while walking alongside it. Unlike a manual pallet jack (which the operator physically pushes and pumps), a power walkie uses electric motors — the operator simply steers and controls speed. Power walkies typically handle loads between 3,500 and 8,000 lbs.
Under CSA and ANSI classifications, power walkies fall under Class 3 — Electric Motor Hand Trucks.
