What is the B.C. Employer Training Grant?
The B.C. Employer Training Grant is a provincial program, run through WorkBC, that helps employers of all sizes pay for skills training for current workers and new hires. If approved, the program reimburses up to 80% of training costs, to a maximum of $10,000 per participant and $300,000 per employer in each fiscal year (April 1 to March 31). Applications are accepted year round.
How it works
- Plan the training and get a quote from the training provider (that’s us).
- Apply before training starts. Applications can’t be submitted after the training start date. WorkBC recommends applying about 60 days ahead so you know the outcome in time.
- Pay for the training once approved. The employer pays the full cost up front.
- Claim your reimbursement within 30 days after the training starts.
Is safety training eligible?
Eligibility is decided by WorkBC for each application. The training must lead to better job security or a better job for a current worker, or a job for a new hire, and can’t be longer than 52 weeks. Check the current rules and eligibility criteria on the WorkBC ETG page before you apply.

- Invoices and certificates of completion for every worker, for your reimbursement claim.
Gama Safety is not part of WorkBC and can’t decide or guarantee funding. Program details can change; WorkBC’s website is the official source.
