Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is the #2 most-compensated occupational disease in Canada — WorkSafeBC alone receives more than 1,500 NIHL claims every year. Unlike most workplace injuries, hearing loss is permanent and irreversible — but it's also 100% preventable with proper training, hearing protection, and a workplace hearing conservation program. Under WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation Part 7, Alberta OHS Code Part 16, Ontario OHSA Regulation 381/15, and Federal COHSR Part VII, every employer must protect workers exposed to noise at or above the action level (82-87 dBA depending on jurisdiction) with a hearing conservation program that includes worker training, hearing protection, and audiometric testing.
Gama Safety Canada's Online Noise & Hearing Conservation course delivers full certification for only $49.99 — designed for construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, forestry, agriculture, landscaping, mining, and industrial workers. Complete the course on any device at your own pace, pass the final exam, and download your certificate instantly. Physical wallet card mailed to your address at no extra charge. Aligned with the CSA Z94.2 hearing protection standard and CSA Z107.56 noise measurement standard — the Canadian benchmarks recognized by every provincial WCB.
Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is one of the most costly, common, and preventable workplace injuries in Canada. The numbers tell the story:
For a $49.99 course, this is one of the highest-ROI safety investments a worker or employer can make. A single NIHL claim can cost $15,000–$50,000+ in wage-loss, medical costs, and permanent hearing aid coverage.
Any Canadian worker exposed to noise above 82 dBA needs hearing conservation training — and that covers a huge portion of the industrial and construction workforce. This course is built for:
Under WorkSafeBC (BC), Alberta OHS Code Part 16, and Ontario OHSA Regulation 381/15, the workplace noise exposure limit is 85 dBA measured as an 8-hour equivalent (Lex). If workers are exposed at or above this level over an 8-hour shift, the employer must implement a hearing conservation program including engineering controls, hearing protection, audiometric testing, and worker training. WorkSafeBC also sets an action level at 82 dBA Lex — the point at which a written hearing conservation program becomes mandatory.
For reference, common workplace noise sources:
Federal Canada Labour Code / COHSR Part VII sets a slightly higher limit at 87 dBA Lex for federally-regulated employers (interprovincial transport, banks, telecoms, airlines). This course covers both thresholds.
Most workers complete the course in 90 to 120 minutes and receive their digital certificate immediately after passing the final exam. Here's the process:
Most construction and industrial workers need more than just hearing conservation to be job-ready. Our Construction Worker Starter Bundle combines 6 essential courses — including Noise & Hearing Conservation, WHMIS, Fall Protection, PPE, and more — for $131 (regular $179.70, save $48.70). It's the fastest, most complete way for a construction worker to cover core compliance in one purchase.
