Yes. BC's OHS Regulation (Part 16, section 16.43) requires employers to make sure lift truck operators, including telehandler operators, are trained before they operate. There is no WorkSafeBC telehandler licence. Our certificate records your training and assessment; your employer still checks you on its own machine and attachments and authorizes you.
Practical at our partner rental yard (details on booking). The theory is taught in a classroom; your booking confirmation gives the address and start time.
One day, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a lunch break and two short breaks.
Your own CSA-approved safety boots (without them you cannot operate the machine), government-issued photo ID, and a phone for the written exam. We supply the hard hat, high-visibility vest, gloves and safety glasses.
Book as experienced only if you hold a valid certificate for this machine from any provider, or a Gama certificate that expired less than a year ago, and can show it at sign-in. Otherwise book as a new operator, which gives you more hands-on time on the machine.
Fixed-boom (non-rotating) telehandlers with pallet forks. Rotating telehandlers, suspended loads, work platforms and lifting people are not covered and need separate training.
Three years. Your employer manages refresher training and may require it sooner, for example after an incident or a change of machine, attachment or task.
